Welcome to Rocky Mountain School!

Nestled in the heart of Goodnews Bay, Alaska, our school is a vibrant learning community serving approximately 70 students in grades K-12. Located 100 air miles south of Bethel, our village is home to about 250 residents who embrace the beauty and traditions of life in the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta.
Surrounded by breathtaking tundra, snow-capped mountains, and the crystal-clear waters of the bay, our community thrives in every season. Summer is filled with salmon fishing, smoking, canning, and freezing the catch for winter. Fall brings berry picking and moose hunting, while winter is a time for ice fishing and snow machine travel to neighboring villages. In spring, we celebrate the return of migratory birds, marking the renewal of life in our region.
At Rocky Mountain School, we are committed to fostering strong relationships, open communication, and collaboration with students, families, and the wider community. Together, we create a supportive environment where every child can learn, grow, and succeed. We invite you to be part of our journey—where education, culture, and community come together!
